Dr Christopher hill,
senior associate

Chris has worked in Asia and Middle East, in academic and senior management positions in international higher education, for the past decade. Dr Hill is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a regular contributor to the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education and recently edited a Routledge book examining the European educational legacy in Asia.

Christopher has led on funded projects around the world, including internationalisation in teaching and research in Taiwan; research supervision and collaboration in Iraq and Thailand; capacity building in Tanzania; higher education reform in Pakistan; TNE partnerships and policy development in the Philippines.

Elli yiannakaris, associate

Elli is the former director of the Raymond Ackerman Academy (RAA). The Academy was established in 2005 with funding from one of South Africa's most successful entrepreneurs, Raymond Ackerman, to afford youth from under-resourced backgrounds an opportunity to pursue tertiary studies and a career in entrepreneurship. 

Elli comes with a wealth experience in the advertising industry, previously working on brands such as Old Mutual, Allan Gray and the NSRI. She was previously the assistant to the director in the Corporate Learning Division at the UCT Graduate School of Business as well as being appointed chair of the community of practice for student entrepreneurship for the EDHE entrepreneurship initiative.

DR william lawton, associate

Bill has worked in higher education for 25 years. His areas of specialisation include transnational education, mobility, digital learning and government policy. Recent projects have included quality assessment, mobility, TNE in Southeast Asia and HE policy in Pakistan. Clients include QS, British Council, European Parliament and UpGrad, an Indian online HE provider.

Bill was Director of the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education from 2011-14 and a founding member of Universities UK International. He was a political analyst and Head of Academic Relations at the Canadian High Commission in London. In the 1990s he taught politics at the University of Hull.

dr Johanna havemann,
associate

With a background in Evolution and Developmental Biology, Dr. Johanna Havemann is a trainer and consultant in [Open] Science Communication and [digital] Science Project Management. Her work experience covers NGOs,
a science startup and international institutions including the UN Environment Programme. With a focus on digital tools for science and her label Access 2 Perspectives, she aims at strengthening global science communication in general – and with a regional focus on Africa – through Open Science.

PATRICE AJAI-aJAGBE, senior associate

Patrice has extensive experience in the
higher education and research management sectors, in particular, managing capacity
building projects and international surveys. Patrice has served on several
international committees and advisory groups, and most recently, sat on the
council of the International Network of Research Management Societies
(2017-2020). Patrice is an accredited Prince 2 project manager having worked with partners and beneficiaries around the world.
